Manage businesses
A business is an entry in your directory — a company, an office/branch, or an individual — that your work is organised under. It's an important building block: your zones, your staff, and your projects all belong to a business, a quotation is headed by one, and your Showcase storefront is one. This guide shows how to create one and control what it's used for.
You already have one. Your account starts with a Main office business that's ready for projects, so you can create projects right away. Add more businesses only when you actually run more than one branch or trade under more than one identity.
What a business is used for
Each business carries three "Used for" switches — turn on the ones that apply:
| Used for | What it unlocks |
|---|---|
| Projects | The business can head projects; its zones and staff live under it, and project forms offer it in their pickers. |
| Quotation | The business can head a quotation/offer (the letterhead on the exported document). |
| Showcase | The business has a public storefront with its own categories. |
Because so much hangs off it, the business is usually the first thing you pick on a form — changing it changes which zones and staff you can choose.
Turning "Used for projects" off isn't allowed while projects, zones, staff, clients or suppliers still reference the business — deactivate the business instead if you want to retire it.
Create a business
- Go to Businesses and tap Add.
- Pick the type — company, office, or individual (fixed after creation).
- Enter the business name (required, 2–200 characters).
- Optional: add a slogan, phone numbers, and an email.
- Optional: add an address and a map location.
- Turn on the "Used for" switches that apply.
- Tap Save. (You can add a logo from the edit form afterwards.)
Optional details
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Phone | Any international format — digits, spaces, -, (, ), and a leading +. |
| Address | Country, state, city, street, and unit. If you fill in any address part, Country is required (the rest stay optional). |
| Map location | Pin an exact point. You set latitude and longitude together (both, or neither). |
Edit a business
- Open the business from the Businesses list.
- Tap Edit.
- Change any field and tap Save. (The type can't be changed.)
Tips
- Name your businesses the way your team refers to them ("Main office", "North Branch") — staff
and zones are grouped under these names.
- Set up a projects business's zones and staff after you create it, so projects under it
have areas and team members ready to pick.
- A business you no longer use can be deactivated — it disappears from new-assignment pickers
while everything that already references it keeps working.
