Manage zones
A zone is an area or grouping that projects sit in — for example a city, a district, or a specific site. Zones help you organise projects geographically within a business. This guide shows how to create and manage them.
You already have one. Your starting business comes with a Main zone, so you can create a project without setting up zones first. Add more zones when you want to group projects by area.
How zones relate to businesses
- A zone belongs to one business (one that's used for projects), chosen when you create it.
- The business is fixed after creation — you can rename a zone or redraw its area, but you
can't move it to a different business.
- When you create a project, the zone picker shows only the chosen business's zones.
- You reach a business's zones from its detail page: Businesses → the business → Zones.
Create a zone
- Open the business from Businesses, then tap Zones and Add.
- Enter the zone name (required, 2–100 characters). The owning business is already set —
you arrived from its zone list.
- Optional: draw the zone's area on the map (a boundary outline).
- Tap Save.
About the drawn area (optional)
You can outline a zone's boundary on the map. It's optional, but if you draw it, Reconstro can gently flag when a project's pinned location falls outside that area when you create the project — a helpful check, never a hard block.
Edit a zone
- Open the zone from its business's Zones list.
- Tap it to open the form.
- Change the name or the drawn area and tap Save. (The business can't be changed.)
Remove a zone
Removing a zone depends on whether a project uses it:
| Situation | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Not used by any project | Delete it. |
| In use by a project | You can't delete it. Deactivate it instead — it stays on existing projects but won't appear when creating new ones. |
Tips
- The Main zone is enough to start — you don't need to create zones before your first project.
- Pick the business first when creating a project; the zone list follows the business.
- Draw a zone's area only if the outside-the-zone reminder is useful to you — it's never required.
