Estimate a project's cost
A cost estimate is a standalone calculator for pricing a job before you commit to it — add line items, and Reconstro totals them for you. It's separate from a project's actual money, so you can plan freely. This guide shows how.
The short version: open Cost estimates, tap New estimate, give it a title and a base currency, then add line items and read the total.
What an estimate is (and isn't)
- An estimate is a what-if calculation — a planning tool you can build and revise.
- It is not the same as a project's budget or its recorded transactions. Estimating a cost
doesn't change any project's money. (To record real cash, see Track money on a project.)
You reach your estimates from the Home screen.
Create an estimate
- Open Cost estimates and tap New estimate.
- Enter a Title (e.g. "Villa renovation estimate").
- Choose a Base currency (add one first if you have none — there's an Add a currency
shortcut; see Add a currency).
- Optional: add a Reference and a Note.
- Tap Create estimate.
Add line items
Open the estimate and add line items under Line items — each with a quantity and a price, which Reconstro multiplies into a subtotal. You can pull in items from your Showcase products, or add your own. The Breakdown keeps a running total as you go, and you can apply Adjustments (such as a discount or extra) on top.
Draft and final
An estimate is a Draft while you're working on it. When it's settled you can mark it Final; reopen it any time you need to change something.
Open an estimate to Edit or Delete it.
Tips
- Estimate freely — nothing here touches a real project's money, so try different numbers.
- Reuse your Showcase products as line items to price quickly with consistent figures.
- Keep it a Draft while it's changing; mark it Final once you've shared or agreed it.
